I booted into the BIOS and couldn't figure out how to change the settings. I then guessed you have to change the DRAM timing mode to both and was greeted with way too many settings for me to understand. Which ones should I change to get the 9-9-9-24-2T?
Ediit - I finally figured out the settings (Google works wonders
- I have it set to both as from what I got from this
thread was DCT 0 was one color of DIMM's and DCT 1 was the other so go both and change them to identical setttings) but tRAS will only do auto which picks a rate of 29 to bring my current settings in CPU-z to 9-9-9-29-41 2T. Is it okay at 29 (BIOS auto setting), or should I bump all of the others back at auto? Running memtest now on the current 9-9-9-29 settings. I plan to do 2-3 passes and then run Prime95 in blend for as many hours as I can fit in today. I may try memtest overnight tonight as well if everything looks good.
Edit 2 - Just got off the phone with MSI (motherboard manufacturer) and they couldn't figure out why it would only do auto but said that in terms of stability 29 would be just fine. I also checked with them to ensure I set my DRM timing setting right (both) and they confirmed that is what I want in my configuration. Memtest is halfway done with its second pass with no errors.
Edit - 3 Passed memtest86 after 5.25 passes and 10 hours. I think that should mean its pretty darn stable. I am now running Prim95 in blend mode for the next few hours to continue to test before I go to bed and I will shut it off tonight. I think it deserves a break
. Hopefully my stuck on "Windows Loading" problem was solved with the new RAM... The power supply fixed it for a couple of days before it happened again but I am hopeful this was it...Edited by t1stone - 9/13/13 at 8:06pm
