Incorrect system time and date will cause issues with security certificates. Example might be purchasing something online and the website might not accept payment if the time and date on your PC don't match up with the rest of the world.
Changing a CMOS battery is easier than changing a watch battery. It's a CR2032 more than likely and will require nothing more than a finger nail and two minutes of your time to rule it out as an issue. If it is a dying CMOS battery and you ignore it, your PC is unlikely to boot without issue for much longer - just sayin'
