All 3 of those intel CPUs will perform at the same or better level as the 8320/8350 in games and all 3 can be run on dirt cheap Z based boards.

You will need a minimum of a Sabertooth 990FX for a 8320/8350. Like someone said not much point in paying extra for the 8350 just grab a 8320 if that is what you want to do.

.

thats a little misleading.......I am running an ASUS M5 A99FX PRO R2.0...and that will net you reasonable clocks...

Didn't that board retail for $160-165 and is no longer sold? I might be wrong... if so not worth the $30 to loose out on the power delivery.

Didn't I say even with a board that is $160 I wouldn't do it.

I can't look up all the board prices and I have no clue what they cost in Australia. I just know for a fact that you are going to want to buy a board that has a minimum of a 8+2 phase and with the Intel that is not at all necessary.

Will a 6+2 phase work... sure obviously... will you be able to push the CPU to its max and get decent temps... I doubt it!

If he can save $100 going with a 6+2 board and the 8320 then why not. But in the states your still talking a small amount of price difference...

How bad is the difference in price for the 4670k and 8320 in Australia?

NVRMND

I answered that myself... pretty substantial.

Going off that site only:
4670k is going to cost $400 w/ board
8320 is going to cost $365 w/ board if you grab the ASrock Extreme4 which is an 8+2 and $10 less than the ASUS 6+2 board.

So a $35 AUD difference so a little less than 10% less in price. Before you figure in the difference in the cooler cost if any and the AMD does need to run at a lower temp and dissipates substantially more heat meaning the cooler has to be much more efficient.

Is your cooler compatible with the new socket? Or with the 1155 socket? Also check to see if some motherboards have support for older coolers.

This will be good so that you do not need to factor in a cooler into the price. I would go Intel then if I were you... tongue.gif
