@hyp3rtraxx: do you have any type of fan to cool your ram? The heatsinks on them look pretty beefy so if you dont have a fan id go pick one up and toss it on it. i think it'd be ok. Play with the timings and see what you can get out of them. The fan i have over my ram is a corsair ram set up and cost me about 20usd. Not sure what your parts access is up in Sweden, but it shouldnt be hard to find. And thanks on the rig, anyone can accomplish it! just have to be a little creative, have a dremmel, and lots of patience! I looked at the lines and design of the case and let it brew for a few days and than decided where i wanted to cut and what to take out. Im gonna post a few more pics here in a bit of the inside.
I've been a diehard As5 fan for years, but ive been looking at the new offerings. Pk-1 and the tim from phobya look pretty good. If i can get 3-5c drop from lapping and 1-2c from the more up to date tims, that'll leave me plenty of head room for 5ghz or above voltage i think.
I think that you are having about the correct info on what as5 and lapping can do for you right. I think im gonna get a ram cooler if i can find anyone that fits over those big sinks on my ram. I tried 1.7v and tried lower my timings to 9-10-9 without any luck, hard to reset cmos even that it says i have dual bios that should kick in. But i have this profile saved and when clearing cmos the profile stay. Hmm im starting to dislike the ud5 board, would you guys consider it a high end mobo? Cause i do and i find alot of options in bios or lack of options in bios unnaceptable. First you got the issue that you cant adjust cpu/nb voltage and im running latest stable bios version out here. Im gonna spend the day looking for a older bios version that might have that option. and second of all, if i drop fsb to stock at 200mhz and plays around with only the multiplier i cant get my ram multiplier to go higher then 1333mhz, as well totally unaceptablr for a high end mobo. Wish i knew these things before i got the mobo. Only positive thing about my mobo is that it seems like a solid quality mobo but for people that doesnt oc there sys. But i guess for the fun of it and to see if i can reach the magical 5ghz i will drop ram to 1333mhz then and drop Nb to about 2000mhz and then start to play with the multiplier aiming for 5ghz, i have been running my cpu at 5ghz sometime i know but cant remember wich bios i used, I could even consider to flash back to a non uefi bios if there is any for the rev 3 one. Things i regret about my system is that i should have gotten a saberkitty and i should have added like 100 euros on the cpu cooler for a custom water loop instead of my kuhler920. I find it hard to accept that i might have reached my limits when it comes to ocíng my system with the current cooler. Ahh and another good things about this mobo is that the vrms is keeping really cool at good temps even without a fan over it. Now im gonna look for a ram cooler and link it here and here what you guys say about it
God i love this forum everyone is so helpfull and ppl gets genuine glad when a brother in overclocking reaches new good goals and nice clocks. This is the best overclocking forum in the world! Always happy, warm, positive helpfull ppl compared to one swedish oc forum ppl call eachother names, insults eachother, break downs each other, bullying eachother and if you happen to be good at what you do witha nice clock or wanting to show off your nice new looking system you get envy for it. But infact its known that swedish ppl are very envious when it comes to if you are better then them or know your rig very well. Ppl tend to get into a mob mentality and just have a go for you. Needless to say im done with that forum! I dont like swedish ppl and im half swedish and half finnish. I like ppl from all around the world and i like ppl from the states alot cause if they are the biggest and best at what they do ppl get happy for them and want advice instead of getting mob mentality and having a go at it. anyway lol i got off topic now haha. Here is 2 ram coolers ive been thinking of let me know wich one of them u t hink i shouuld go for?
(About this cooler ppl say in its review that it can handle high ram cooler fins but it might be kind of noisy and u should probably use a resistance or pwm to control its speed)
(there isnt any review on it on the page but it looks like it could handle high ram cooler fins, and its 5 euros less then the corsair cooler, and this cooler has 3 fans instead of the corsair that has 2 fans)
Hmm cant decide. Help me pls
,wich one do you guys think?
