laptop "touch pad"?? not working

the "touch pad" or whatever its called on me acer lappy has randomly just stopped working, tried reinstalling all the drivers but no luck.

any ideas on how i can fix it?

Aye. Most laptops, through the BIOS, give options to enable the slide pade or mouse or both.

Enable it in your BIOS... all laptops (that I know of) have a setting to enable\\disable like Ictinike said...

You also need to go to Control Panel -> Mouse / Touchpad
and make sure it's enabled there...

Have you spilled anything on it??? It may have shorted if so...

i cant find anything about it in my bios

my laptop is my life! and its never been put to any harm, nothing spilt on it etc, its just randomly stopped working, i use a usb mouse mostly, is there any way of this effecting it?

Sometimes laptops will disable the touchpad when a USB or PS2 mouse is connected. Not sure if this is true in your case. Does the touchpad work without the USB mouse plugged in?

Some "multimedia laptops" have a button to disable it, for watching movies, etc. right next to the pad. It works kind of like a mute button. See if there is a button and push it if there is one.
