Then you have to go into "Advanced Power Options" and manually set Minimum Processor State to 5%, otherwise it will not downclock.

Btw, if your 4930k is stable at 4.6ghz at 1.23v, you got a good one. You ought to be able to get that up to 4.7 or even 4.8 before you have to crack 1.4v (temperature permitting) smile.gif

Yes, I know that it will not clock down unless I take it off High performance.. smile.gif The question I had was, how is it stable at 4.6ghz at 1.232 volts.. smile.gif I thought that was pretty amazing... But like you said, I got lucky and got a good chip.. thumb.gif I am sure I can push it to 4.8ghz and stay under the 1.4 volt threshold, but not sure if I want to run that high.. LOL! Thanks for the response, much appreciated..

Ok so i can either keep my current 3930k which i have running at 4.5ghz or get a 4930k and clock that to 4.5ghz. I currently have 2400mhz cas 10 ram that i would like to use but it puts the vtt and imc voltage too high for my 3930k. Money is not an issue as i currently have a 4930k coming to me.

My current 3930k can bench over 5ghz if i can remember my settings. I have been actually running at stock clocks for the better half of a year because im too affraid to degrade my processor with high high voltage. At the current clock im hitting 4.5 @ 1.35 volts which is well within safe range.

Does anyone know the max safe vtt and inc voltages without degrading the processor?

Will i see a real benifit switching to a 4930k if im running tri fire 7970's?

I guess i want to try it but is it worth it or not if money isnt really a factor

Not going to notice a massive difference between the 3930K and the 4930K other than that your 2400MHz memory will be officially supported and should not have any issues with the IB-E IMC. Also if you do in fact run them both at 4.5GHz the 4930K will be faster but you need at least 4.8GHz out of it to match a 5GHz 3930K and the majority of 4930K's can't reach 4.8GHz at under 1.5V. I dropped my 3960X that clocked to 5GHz for a 4930K and have seen a small drop in bench scores as my 4930K won't do 4.8GHz at any voltage but my 1866MHz memory OC's to 2133MHz far easier now and it will even do 2400MHz at loose timings. Not to mention that I can run at 4.7GHz 24/7 and only be a couple of percentage points slower than my 3960X was at 5GHz and much higher voltages...

yea, i think im going to try it, worst case senario i get a mediocre one and sell it. best case senario it hits 6ghz at 1.2v biggrin.gif
