Overclocking i7-4930k Help - Page 73

Hey everyone! New to overclocking and I decided its time so I started messing around in the bios after reading some recommendations here. One problem I am having is that it seems that Prime95 is not recognizing my processor for some reason and only one worker will start. i realize I wont get a real test if the workers aren't starting so I think I need to get this resolved before continuing.

Anyone ever run into this before? I downloaded v279, it seems to be the latest version at least that I can find.

Thanks in advance.

Here is a screenshot of how it is not recognizing the processor. Does "physical processor" describe a single core with multiple threads or?

That's normal for 27.9 with haswell and apparently IB-E - just use version 28.3. It was released quite a while ago

Wow I feel like a moron haha. For whatever reason only one or two of the workers "threads" for a lack of a better word were scrolling. If I pull down each window they are in fact running just cant see when they are only showing one line.

Hi guys,

I am coming from !7-3770k , Asus v- deluxe MB which I OC it to 5.0 stable and temp around 75 degs with Corsair H80i. So I decided to upgrade when I got the evga 780 classy. I went for Gigabyte sniper 5 (which was a nightmare) and I7-4770k. Coming from the 3770k, I thought this would be a easy OC, boy was I wrong.

Well after having problems with the gigabyte MB, I decided enough is enough, so I went out and got the Rampage IV and I7-4930k, which I am trying to OC but it seams this is the best I can get. rolleyes.gif Here are my numbers, as you can see there is a differents in temp between ROG and real temp.

Stress test using Intel Extreme

And Idle.

Need some advice.

Trying to get a stable 4.5 but I am having issues seemingly with my Ram.

Sabertooth x79
4930k (obviously)
Noctua D14
32gb Corsair Vengeance LP 1866

So at first after about 5 minutes I would have a rounding error, now I have tweaked the vccsa and vttcpu(I am assuming this is what people are referring to when they just say vtt) to 1.05, using offset voltage at +.035 (tops out at 1.28v or so in CPUz). Ram is at 1866 with the specified timing of 10-11-10-30-2t and running at 1.5v. With those settings I got an hour in Prime before the dreaded rounding error. Now what would you more experienced guys try from here? Up the vccsa and vtt some more? Up Ram voltage to 1.55?

I would go for 4.6 but this computer is used mostly for rendering so it will run 100% a lot of the time and I don't think my cooler is up to the challenge. It stays around 68-73C most of the time but every now and again one core will spike to 76 or so.

You get these rounding errors with those RAM settings and CPU at stock?

Ram is stock and the CPU is at 4.5. Ran IBT at maximum for 1 pass (takes so damn long with 32gb its insane) and 10 passes at very high with no issues.

What i mean is: You don't know if the RAM works ok at its stock specifications, or you just got bad RAM that is rated for 1866 at those timings and volts but can only do 1600

You need to isolate if it's a RAM issue, or an IMC issue (which those other voltages may help with)
