[Kotaku] Forget The iPhone, Let's Support This Thing - Page 5

I also want to make clear, never say never but this concept will NEVER happen for phone or any embedded devices. Simply putting external connector will drive up power usage significantly due to the larger contacts.

It's not about technology viability in the future, we will never develop towards this concept because it is just not how you design embedded and low power systems.

Also this just reminded me of blowing on NES cartridges back in the days. "Hey bro memory not working? blow on it maybe it'll work.", "No man I gotta blow the processor", "No man lick the wifi block it'll give you free interwebz"

I would almost bet that people used to think the same exact thing 10 years ago, about how much touch screen phones would eat a battery considering all the programs they use and how the OS is always on. Some time in 10 years technology will more than likely progress in a similar way, and something like this current phone will be a possibility, it's impossible to tell really, designs could change to make this a possibility instead of fantasy.

What is with all the hate in this thread?

It is basically a pc in a silly way. Also upgradable.

And why would any of us care about how hard it is to design for hardware manufacturers and software designers?
That is their problem not mine,

If something like this would exist I would support it. Think of all the customisation that could be done to it.

I love the concept.
