Strange artifacting with 7970

Recently I had noticed that on internet pages, text would not show up in some posts [and a refresh immediately fixed it] as well as random jittering windows [sorta like a "scan" going thru the window, it moves down a fix pixels and then corrects itself] as well as other artifacts. I had no idea how to capture them. But now I noticed this just while watching an embedded youtube video. At first I hadnt noticed the artifacts in task manager but in circling the video artifact I saw that.

What the heck is this? Dying 7950? Driver?

EDIT: Forgot, I have a 7950, not 7970. Doubt it changes anything though.

Have you tried to reinstall the card? Sometimes a bad mount can do all sorts of things. Maybe a bit of dust here or there... Try re-mounting it. Also try re-plugging the dvi/Vga/HDMI cables.

Also, go back to the stock card clocks and give voltage a bump, that sometimes fixes artifacts... I'm not 100% sure what you are experimenting are artifacts. I'll be around this thread. Good luck. thumb.gif

I actually put this card under water a few weeks ago. Temps are pretty good and I had no stability issues in games with my overclocking settings. Well, until recently.

So, of course, dust isnt an issue. I could try re-mounting, im just very worried I will loosen a bit of tubing. My first 3 mounts all have leaks. 2 due to faulty fitting 1 due to bad install. Lots of water leaking but none ever touched the card, miraculously.

I can definitely try fiddling with the DVI-D plug.

While getting the artifacts I went from my 1300MHz/1.219v setting to 1275MHz/1.181v setting as well as "reset" to defualts and all yeiled the same artifacts. I also tried underclocking the core and memory and the same deal.

But now, for whatever reason, its stopped doing it. I tried opening task manager, playing a video, and using MSI -AB, but cant get any artifacts. Just FYI, the artifacts werent static nor were they constantly moving. When I moved my mouse around they would appear and disappear in random locations. It was pretty hard to capture them with a screenshot lol.

Kinda sucks that they stopped since im certain they'll be back and its hard to know if any attempted fixed [Driver/Cable/Voltage/etc] did anything.

Thank you for your help, btw.
