MCP35x2 + Maelstrom + Swiftech Heatsink?

Hello!!

Going to make this short and sweet... I currently own the MCP35x2, I'm planning on mating it to the Maelstrom in my rebuild (beginning at the end of this month) What i'm trying to figure out is if the Swiftech Heatsink will still fit on the pump, once the pump is mated with the bay res...

http://www.performance-pcs.com/catalog/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=34381

You would think this info would be readily available some where on swiftech's site, but I was unable to find it.

It seems to be only the forward / back clearance that could be an issue. It would be surprising if they didn't take this into account but then, you never know.

The 35X pumps are 62mm wide and the heatsink is 80mm ... that seems like about 9mm overhang on each side. It could be very close.

With the pumps attached I reckon the heatsink will be lower than that front PCB so it should be fine. If anything it might intrude into the next 5 1/4 slot down.

you might have some clearing issues with the pcb; but it can be resolved with a hacksaw smile.gif

Best is to actually ask them (mail/forum) , and if it doesnt fit propose they release a modified HS that does smile.gif

I actually got an email back from them rather quickly on the topic...

"You can mount our heat sink and fan assembly to the dual pumps on your Maelstrom. The issue though is that you may need to modify your case to make them fit if you have a metal plate sitting under the pumps. This is typical if you have the Maelstrom located in the bottom 5.25 bays in your case. I hope this answers your question."

I guess this basically means It would become a triple bay res.

He also informed me the stock faceplate DOES NOT fit inside a 900D without modding, but that they have addressed the issue and are releasing a new one shortly... He gave me an email to get on a waiting list.

Their service remains legendary smile.gif

3 slots.??? It doesn't have to be a problem, it depends on how much "play" there is , it should be mounted in the topmost slots anyways smile.gif
You can probably still fit something in the slot below it.. like a fan controll , or a usb/multiport thingie, or.. nothing, just a blank plate smile.gif
