GPU Usage Erratic at idle - ideas?

Thread Starter
Hello all,

My GPU usage (and temps as a result) are in a constant state of flux, even at idle (read: staring at desktop and/or afterburner usage stats). This causes my temps to constantly change in my taskbar display from Afterburner - IE GPU1 will go 38,39,38,39,38,39 and GPU2 will go 35,36,35,36 etc.

I have attached a picture of me staring at the desktop with Afterburner open for some time. I am not moving the mouse or doing anything else. My temperatures pretty much never stabilize (this is the stat I can view even when not looking at MSI afterburner, just by staring at the computer).

Does anyone have any ideas on what is going on here?

Quick rundown:

6950 (unlocked to 6970) x2 - 13.10 beta drivers
Afterburner 3.0.0 Beta 14

I think it is drivers unfortunately, I remember having this with a 6990/6970. It showed up one set of drivers and fortunately it was gone the next.

No flash animations in browsers were playing (including ads) right? Even in the background?

It occurs with no browser open as well. If I'm just staring at the desktop I can watch the temps fluctuate in the taskbar. If I stare at Afterburner stat page I can watch the GPU usage fluctuate.

It's really unfortunate that these drivers are troublesome but I guess it's not too bad unless it causes crashes. I had to revert to my 6950x2 from the 770 I bought due to the horrible set of drivers out right now by Nvidia as well.

Yeah I haven't had too many troubles with WHQL but the betas have been a pain.

It seems like we will always have driver issues wink.gif

You can always submit a driver bug to them, to ensure they have it.

Edit: On second thought, it looks like it is full up for now frown.gif
