Greetings from Philly

Thread Starter
Long time lurker finally getting around to signing up. Been using home computers since '84 with the Commodore 64. First PC was a Packard Bell 486SX2 50Mhz. Overclocked that by moving data bus clock jumper from 25Mhz to 33Mhz. Second PC I overclocked was friend's Quantum Pentium 60 to a 66. Since then:

First home build
Pentium MMX 166Mhz - 200Mhz Abit ITH7
Pentium II 233Mhz Klamath to 283Mhz Abit LX6
Pentium III 500Mhz Katmai Asus P3B-F (Don't remember the overclock probably 6xx something, used till 2007)
AMD K6 III 500Mhz Don't remember the board (I probably still have it laying in the closet, come to think of it I just dumped all of these a few months ago at a recycle event damn!)

Current
Core2Duo E7400 Wolfdale 4Ghz (Previously had Pentium E1800 oc'ed to 3.4Ghz)
AMD Sempron 140 Sargas Windows Server 2012 (Stock, Asus mb MOSFETs overheat when overclocked but core is unlocked)
AMD Phenom II X2 555 Callisto to 3.92Ghz (just picked up a used Sabertooth 990FX R2.0)

Ever since having a family I cut back on my hobby and only got reinvigorated after building my wife's nephews PCs for college. I never got the latest and greatest before but after they got some i5 haswell and 7970Ghz action going it got me rejuvenated about my own PCs. I gave my son the Core 2 Duo for minecraft that was built with throwaway work parts namely the cpu and memory. Got a open box p45 gigabyte mb from Microcenter along with a $20 Thermaltake V3.

Current machine started life as a HTPC with 785G motherboard. I picked up a 120XL seidon for $40 AR and thought it would fit in the Thermaltake. Wrong. So I bought a ARC Midi R2 took the processor and chip from the hTPC and voila. Then saw the deal for 7950 for $178 after discount and AR. Jumped on that again too big for MB as MB was a MATX and video card covers up SATA slots. Being a cheap ass hobbyist is really no fun. So I just picked up a used Sabertooth for $120 on ebay. So at least the parts are starting to match generations. Looking to pick up fx-8320 next.

Reason coming to this website was for VRM/Mosfet overheating when overclocking the Sempron with the core unlocked. Throttling. Learned real quick that those boards are no good. My server is in an old school Antec 1030 Beige with 2 80mm fans out back and 2 in front. Now I know. Didn't have to worry about power phases back in the day.

Any way wasted too much of your time. Search is on for the Vishera.
