[Advice]Suggestions for laptop [$500-650]

I am in the market for a new laptop for my brother. he and his fiance have no computer, and really would like something to be able to use for the normal stuff like streaming(hulu, netflix), school work, etc
obviously, really any laptop will be fine in the performance department, so what i am looking for, is a nice laptop, with good build quality, a model that should be reliable, and has a decent looking screen (resolution is not everything)
things to consider:
build quality, aesthetics
manufacturers warranties, etc
quality screen, other worthwhile bells/whistles (obv. webcam, etc) *perhaps BD?
heat output, i don't want this thing to be a worry to hold in your lap.
500-650, bit stretchable.
the people who will be getting this laptop are not computer people in the slightest, so i want something i don't have to go over and mess with often, i don't follow the laptop scene, so i have no idea what is good.

Core i5 2.6ghz 6gb Ram, Nvidia 610M
Has a fast core i5, plenty of ram, and overkill graphics for anything they would need. Comes with 1 year accidental damage replacement.

Core i7 2.4ghz, 4gb Ram, Intel Hd 4000
Fast core i7, great for the future. Enough ram that can be upgraded when needed, standard graphics that would handle whatever they can throw at it. Also comes with 1 year accident damage replacement.

Core i3 2.3ghz, 6gb ram, intel HD 3000, 17.3" LED screen; 1600x900, Blu-Ray Drive
Fast enough processor, more than enough ram, graphics that are good enough for them. Larger screen than the others with a blu-ray drive, may be beneficial for movies.

AMD A10 2.5ghz, 6gb ram, Radeon 8650g
Plenty of processing power and ram, great graphics for a built in card.

I just bought an Acer v5-552G for $500. Great for my needs. It doesn't have a DVD drive so it is super thin and light. It comes with dedicated graphics which is what I need to handle my engineering design programs. Any of the laptops I listed above would be great for the next 5 years(hardware wise, can't speak for reliability).
Hope you find a good one for him and her. Good luck thumb.gif

ooh, nice, a good few options to consider, after more talking to my brother, a disc drive is a must, the fiance has been without burning cds for too long apparently lol, so the acer v5-552g doesn't sound great for them... but i, on the other hand, might be buying a laptop in the next month myself, and i will look into it.

any more suggestions anybody has will still be helpful, if anything is good at bestbuy, that would be good, they are thinking about getting a credit card through them.. but anywhere is fine to buy still.
