Need help putting together a theater system

I was looking at HTIB but now I am not. I almost bought an Onkyo system but read that the few I was looking at all have receivers that suffer from HDMI board failures. So now I am looking at getting either a Denon AVR-E300/E500 or a Yamaha RX-V475BL. The Denon looks to be more powerful. If any of you have a better receiver for the same price or a bit more let me know. Then I have no clue what speakers to get. I read a review saying that these Energy speakers were pretty good for the money. I am sure some of you will have better options though. I am trying to stay around the $1000 mark. My living room is not huge either. I think it is 13x12.5ft with a vaulted ceiling up to 10ft. So I guess that is not a ton of air space to fill.

Any help would be great. I am going to hook it up to my Samsung series 7000 40" TV for now. I may get a larger TV later.

I got a Denon X2000 and some Definitive Tech ProCinema 600's to try out and so far I like them. The sub is powerful as hell. The speakers sound pretty clear. I may try some Klitpch though at some point. I am debating on stepping up to the X4000 to have the added benefit of the pre-outs and the increase in RMS wattage to run some Tower speakers at some point.
