7970 vs gtx780 same clock?

Hi. I am planing to build a intel rig but i am a little confuse about video card. lets said my 7970 has clock speed of 1175 and memory clock as 1550. if a gtx 780 has the same clock/memory clock, do they preform the same? since they have same clock and memory clock. thanks

No. Clock for clock, the 780 flies past the 7970.

sorry for asking , but how come the 780 will be better tho since they have the same clock. i mean what other factor make the 780 run better than the 7970. sorry for so many question. i am just trying to learn. thanks

Well first of all you can't really compare AMD and Nvidia architectures in this way.

But look at it this way: A 7970 outperforms a 7950 at the same clock speeds. Why? Because the 7970 has more computational units inside it. When you run more units at the same clock speeds as a fewer amount of units, the chip with more units will perform better since it can do more in a single clock cycle.

Similarly a 780 just has much more computational power on die. The GPU in the 780 can do more work for each clock cycle and thus has more performance at the same clock.

also Geforce 780GTX is GL110 based and is the top of Nvidia performance atm. and HD 7970 was made to compete with GK104 which is mid range gpu(Geforce 680GTX)
