help overclocking

well im at it again i am looking to overclock my opti 165 this time and it has the right stepping which is most common to reach 3gigs but what i cant get to change with out having a problem is changing the memory settings i cant set me cas to lower than 3 but the upside is that i can change the other numbers to 2 and the last number to about 8 sofar so like this 3-2-2-8 with 1t or 2t but... the thing i dont get is that it is kindgston valuram just to tell you, and the frequency for the ram i can set my 215fsb with 3-3-3-11 and it will work fine but i need help with the frequency thing its dual channel and 1gig so what should i set my frequency to? 400 which in reality it is actually 200 and i know to keep my hyper threading down its about at 600 right now

so heres questions here:
what should the frequancy be

does the cas lat make a HUGE difrrence in the clocking process

whats the 1t,2t thing?

also i am looking to hit just 2.8 max i mean 3 would be nice but i doubt it i have artic cooler pro with as5

1T or 2T is command rate. Setting your CR to 1 greatly increases bandwidth. But it's all about stability, so you can go for 1 only if its stable.

Good luck with your Opty.

honestly w/ my TCCD my superpi times were quicker running a higher HTT rather than running 1t...but i was running near ddr700.

with kingston value ram you need to run a memory divider. run a 133 divider, then you can set your HTT to whatever you want and be safe. 334x9 = 3 GHz. just be sure to watch your temps and vcore. some CCBBE's can hit 3 GHz on easy voltage, some need to have the IHS cut off before they can reach it.

just keep it at 3-3-3-8 1t and try to run a divider. you should be fine. i hope CPUz is only reading 1.5v by mistake.

also are you running stock cooling or aftermarket?

you really need to be overclocking in BIOS. also the FAQ in the AMD General section explains memory dividers rather well.

http://www.overclock.net/amd-general...ing-guide.html

you might want to read this before you start, just to make sure you're familiar with all the terms.

you could also use a divider if you have reached max ram settings,
also value ram = not great for overclocking

valueram is just fine for overclocking. you just won't be clocking your FSB that high. gotta run your memory on a big ole' divider.
