Well, we have little documentation on it. I only know of two people on OCN who have done it & unfortunately I can't remember one of their handles. MehlstaubtheCat is the other one, he went a semi-passive route. He also used the LGA1366 kit that came with is rive to fit his squared heat sink... From what I understand though, it should afford me a few C @ the least.

So, should I be worried about the previous owner being a nub and getting the hole filled with thermal compound? It looks clean, said he used 99% alcohol to clean it.

Of cource you shout be worry if you see thermal compound in the hole. If jo see it get a little needle to peel it out as good as it gets, be carfully get a needle with with a round tip.
The rest you can clean with a specal CPU Cleaner Kit like Artic Cleaning kit that i use allways to clean my CPU´s before i apply new thermal compunds.
http://www.arcticsilver.com/arcticlean.htm best cleaner for all kind of Thermal compunds.

Thx, for the lovely words about my english...thumb.gif

I have Indigo Extreme Clean... I'm guessing it's on the same level as Arctics's since it's designed to clean off the Indigo Extreme Thermal pads! All is good, the hole is nice & clean... I even put it under some magnification, doesn't look like the owner durped it.

Is the Indigo extreme difficult to remove/clean. I'm doing my water loop this weekend, but will be swapping boards when Rampage 4 extreme arrives and I actually have the funds. If it's hard to clean, I'm just gonna use attic 5, if it's easy I'll give it a try.

In my experience, the two time's i have removed it, it's just pealed right off. It stuck to my nickel block, and I had to peal it off from there. A little bit of credit card helped with the small bit's that didn't come off... The biggest pain in the ass was getting my system leveled off, & getting proper pressure on the waterblock.

off topic: Made a comment on a star citizen page that my titans were getting hit hard in surround in the hangar module... Had 4+ people respond back accusing me of lying, and w/e else I have come to expect owning these GPU's... It's kinda sad how jelly/ rude people can be.

So, I was forced to show them this. Then they accused me of getting it off of the internet some where... So then I linked them my YOUTUBE VIDEO BUILD LOG OF MY STORM TROOPER... Still wasn't enough... Sad really... Must be some seriously jaded people.

Gotcha, I guess I'll be giving it a try then.

I wouldn't even worry about jelly haters. I often get that titans are a waste. Lol

/shrug, I wanted to get off of the update path for a year or two... a couple thou is small peanuts in the long run. The goal is being able to push surround, and they do that flawlessly without compromise, & should continue to do so well into the next gen. Nothing else could do that @ the time. 290X will be 550-600$ and POSSIBLY 1-2% faster than titan. That mean's good things when maxwell comes around. It's only a waste if you can't afford it. I also have no other expensive hobbies. I don't fancy my self a DJ, but I can sure as hell thump out fatt beatz on my G&L Bass & ampeg half stack. I got those toy's back in highschool as christmas/birthday presents. biggrin.gif The rest of my money sit's in the bank.

Yep, with your set up, you will be good for a good 2 years, and even then you might wanna upgrade just to have the latest. Unless intel breaks the pattern if 5% improvements every year. I mean something crazy good must come out next year to force me to update. All this silly 780ti and 290x ain't go nothing on my Titans that I've enjoyed since April of this year.
