Wow. Rarely do I actually observe people respond, categorically, to my overly excited rants...

That being said, thank you for taking the time! Definitely helpful! I finally took the time, due to inability to sleep, to price out the loop, ugh, I was avoiding that because I knew it would be ridiculous, but it is better than the $1,000+ I was expecting, ~$800 for an awesome loop, not a terribly horrible solution, it could be worse.

I have not settled on fittings just yet, as I am not certain as to what I will need for sure just yet, so the price is a high estimate, I am thinking it will be closer to $720/750.

So, when all is said and done, I will be into this about $2,000, not considering the components I already own, which, well, is laughable when I consider just your fantastically 'overpriced', Nvidia-rape Titans... wink.gif

I too have headphones that are USB and bypass my sound card, but I prefer the surround they provide for gaming as opposed to the positional sound of my speakers. I am able to identify directional sound much better with the headphones than the speakers, probably due to the horrific acoustics of my tile-floored room, in conjunction with a complete inability to get the speakers mounted evenly, and my big ears probably don't help either.

Anyhow, I opted for just cooking with dual 655's, for posterity's sake. My main motivation for the dual pumps is failure. I know these pumps have a high reliability, but so do hard drives, and they fail... I tend to let my computer run quite a lot, and I would hate to wake up to a failed pump and burnt CPU/GPU's, to me, the extra $80 is very well worth the investment.

I am hoping that I made some good choices regarding the rads and the blocks. I read in several places that XSPC Raystorm CPU blocks are about the best price/performance. The Alphacool rads look great, being full copper, and 60mm's thick instead of the standard 35mm's.

Alphacool UT60 280mm&420mm
2xMCP655's (Special Edition with G1/4 threaded fittings)
2xAlphacool NVXP GTX680
Phobya Balancer 150 Res
All solid stuff...

I have yet to settle on tubing, I have some 1/2-3/4 clear tubing I picked up for $3 at Menards, pretty good bends without kinking, and I read that a couple people have been using it with a kill coil/silver bullet and it has gotten slightly milky after six months, which I am fine with. So provided that the compression fittings hold tight I will probably just stick with that. Unless anybody has logical objections...
OBJECTION!!!!! That Menard's tubing is a little scary sounding. It's likely full of plasticizer which will detach and gum the living hell out of your loop after awhile. This is a type of thing where going with the official "watercooling brands" is a good choice. I'm using Norprene in this build, it's industrial grade badassness. Anything labeled as plasticizer free is what you want to go with. It's normally 3$ a foot.

I am also curious as to what fans you are going to employ? I am looking at either Noctua NF-A14's, or Akasa AK-FN063's.

I'm a Scythe Gentle Typhoon fan boy. The corsair fans look great, but they are LOUD AS HELL for the amount of pressure they generate. This is something that each person must figure out for them selves though. to my ear 1 High speed Corsair SP fan is louder than 6 High Speed Typhoon's.

That being said, everything is still relatively 'fluid' at this point, and I am open to suggestions. Again, being new to this game I am really playing it by ear as it were, and willing to run with any changes, provided they are reasonable.

I was also wondering if anybody knows if the silver bullet or a kill coil contains a greater volume of silver. I would assume that the kill coil does, but I take issue with something floating around in the res, that could potentially flow into the tubing. That being said, I am sure I could easily reshape it to prevent such a thing from happening.
Kill coil is 99.97% silver ( or more I forget) It should sink to the bottom of your reservoir. If you are going with nickel block's its recommended to use "Dead Water" or the like. I found this out after putting a kill coil in my all nickel plated water block loop, hopefully I didn't damage my stuff.

Hopefully I can get several opinions flowing in, as I prefer to have options for evaluation, as any opinions on the net must be taken with a grain of salt, or a couple pounds in some cases...

Thank you to anybody willing to offer up advice!

My only concern is the motherboard at this point, just hoping I can find it before they are gone and forced to wait on the second run, not that big of a deal, just excited to get this started...

Again, thanks for your thorough response, it is truly appreciated! thumb.gif

Hrmm... I forgot about my Gun collection. I haven't added a new one in years though. After catching a felony up in Detroit the state showed up w/ backup to revoke my right as a gun owner. Long story short, i'm now back in my native land of south florida, & once again a legal, card carrying owner/member. Cost an arm & a leg, but was worth every penny.

hopefully I have an update as to when my mobo will be showing up in the next 48 hours.

OK, time to drop an update... Don't want people to think this has gone dormant like other build log's as of recent...

RIV:BE(official name!! NO EXTREME!!!) should be here by November 15th @ the latest. Once that arrive's my first goal will be to strip down this unit, then get it web-browsing operational w/ an H80 & a 6970 that I have in the drawer, then the fun can begin. I'm slightly worried that my PSU cable's will not be long enough, i'm also "worried" about fan cable's not being long enough. All of these questions should be answered rather quickly once I can actually start my mock-up. I for some reason can't bring my self to even mount the bottom radiator without all the pieces to the puzzle in house.

finally decided on my second PSU. Corsair AX860 NONi because I have no plans of using Corsair link. I was going to recycle the semi-modular 860 I have, but I have decided i'm just going to use that one to power this machine once it's stripped down to it's bare bones. I really REALLY didn't want to have to deal with the octopus of cables that I wouldn't be using. This PSU will be the CPU & fan power house!

Everything is FINALLY coming together. Now all I need is asus to ship out my gosh durned motherboard! If the Aquareo 6 releases before I get my motherboard I will include it into phase one. I just need to figure out where/how i'm going to stash it since my drive bay's are going to be chuck full with rad & dual bay res/pump combo.

Small update: Rampage Iv: Black edition is FINALLY on it's way. Also, my Aquaero 6 XT came in yesterday!

soo, I can finally start doing some building here in the next week I think!!!

I have decided against sleeving, unless I find that my PSU cables are just not long enough. If that's the case, i'll have to buy pre-sleeved extenders.

WELP, IT'S FINALLY ARRIVED! time to get building! sloppy update posts are soon to ensue... Will also assemble a full guide on how to do the back plate mod, & how to NOT waste money doing it.

(girlfriend says: So you are finally done spending money? I say: Oh baby, i'm already saving for three of the next flag ship!)

Sigh, EK released new low profile rads like 3 days after I picked these up. Wish I would of known they were coming, I would of waited. Hell, If I would of known this mobo was going to take an extra month to drop I would of waited to make the entire purchase, gone with double wide case, & different rads. I'll probably just pull the fans on the back off.

Hi skupples

I have done it differently, I have at my radiator in the ground only six fans installed two push / pull and two only push.
The two fans on the power supply I have omitted.
Two fans for a reason a fan blowing directly on the power supply and the other to the cable which is very noisy.
Another tip turning your power supply so the fan is not facing the radiator,
then he gets no warm air and the power supply turns on the fan through the depressants temperatures less one,
which is also quieter.
One of the most errors made in 900D is the power supply is mounted upside down.
The fan should always be visible from the outside, which gives it even colder air and not the air from the radiator.

Hope you could help a little with it again!
