[build] EKGA STH-10 : A 900D Rebuild - Page 17

Great updates!!!

My mom got put in the hospital by her cat b4. Her 2 dogs were trying to kill it and had it cornered up against a tree. My mom tried to scoop her cat out to save it and got bit like 25 times in her hand/arm. She was hospitalized for over a week.
She didn't go to the hospital til hours later at like 2am. The doctors said she would've died by the morning if she didn't go in. Didn't realize how poisonous cat saliva could be....

Anyway, love the pics. Not sure if it's even worth having that 360 there if there's not even a cpl fans cooling it tho....
Even PC radiators that were designed to be passive tend to be not worth the space they take up

Well said. Linus stuffed a 900d with 5 radiators to cool a cpu and two stock graphics cards. In his case, he was trying to fit as much as he could on the 900D, but if space is limited, rads can be a pin in the buttocks.
He put 5 passive rads in his case?
Or he ran regular rads passively without fans?

Not sure i understand what your saying....

I has questions. biggrin.gif

Are you going to post how you are going to accomplish mounting this as a backplate cooler?

Did you already lap the backplate? If so, how did you go about doing that?

What Dynatron model is that? R18?

Are you running it on a fan controller yet? If so, how is the noise level at lower speeds?

Have you figured out exactly how you are going to mount it yet? Will it essentially be mounted as if it is the backplate for your waterblock? If so, would the bolts be long enough to use the springs on the Dynatron and on your waterblock, or just the bolt heads, or nuts - depending on which direction you run them - on the dynatron side? And how long will the bolts need to be? Or am I mistaken in how it will be mounted?

I hope this makes sense.

Hi Unicr0nhunter,

you can also look in my buildlog Post#1 Point 3, there i exactly explain how the backplatemod works.

Link is in the signatur. Project "Industrial Silence".
I`am the father of the backplatemod:)

Got 99% of my info from TheCat.

It's unit G199, the R18/19/16 (lga2011) will NOT fit any way shape or form. You use 4 screws, some washers, thermal pads. The screws are M 4 i believe, x50mm long. Just take your EK knob to the hardware store & match up the thread count. Lapped the back plate with 400, 800, 1200, 1500, 2000 sand paper, then took the dremel buffing head to it. Didn't come out to pure mirror, but it's close. Even the softest dremel buffing head is kinda scratchy, but it's definitely good enough. I may also lap the back of the Dynatron.

Yes I will be putting another guide together, with due credit.

Cat's are vicious. ^^^^ Had to do some drilling & dremeling & tin snipping, but I got it in!
It's going to literally sit flush with the Acrylic front plate, but it shouldn't be an issue w/ the air holes.

DERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRP, just noticed the front fans are on backwards.

LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL i was about to say something about the fans hahaha, good idea, just have the fans pulling air from both sides of the rad making a vacuum in between so the heat just stays on them 24/7 devil.gifwubsmiley.gif

nice work though, im drawing out plans for a removable mobo tray that wont hurt the structural build of the 900D if youre interested in doing it, will be posted in my log once i get a plan that doesnt make me look at it and go.. " wth why would you even think that, thats stupid."

Turn your PSU around, hot air from the radiator will go in there, thats not the best you can do it.
Let the PSU fan get in fresh air from the other side. The PSU can run quiter and cooler too.

On my build i have the last two fans on the PSU side removed,
because they have blow air on the metal side from the PSU an that makes the air extremely loud.
The distance is simply too small for the fans, trust me I had to disassemble everything again.
Do not make the same fault as I.
