Oh, forgot this part of the update... 3930k is the heart, now for the soul.

1TB EVO SSD.

Figured I would get this stuff out of the way in case the US$ implodes this week.

Ok try it, smile.gif but trust me, a sandy bridge-e gets 30 % hoter then a new ivy bridge-e.
And only with ivy bridge-e you can hit higher mermoryclocks then 2200MHz.
This should be two arguments against the a sandy bridge e. wink.gif

1Tb Evo are great smile.gif i have order this days a 120GB Evo for my Notebook biggrin.gif

Worst comes to worst & i'm not satisfied with the 3930k (considering i have a 2400mhz ram kit) i'll cash in my OC warranty & sell the brand new 3930k for break even.

I was hoping w/ some tweaking and RIVE:BE I would be able to @least run the ram kit close to stock settings.

No chance to hit 2400Mhz on sandy Bridge e i have never hit more then 2200MHz.
I think the chance to have a sandy bridge e with a good IMC to hit 2400MHz is under 10%.
I never had one an i have test in my live mabye 10 of it wink.gif

Go in my project an read the last post from me...

Not on 2100MHz you have to hit CL8 to have the speed of 2400MHz CL10
and Ivy bridge e goes higher max is about 2600MHz some good can do 2700MHz and this speed you never get with 2100 MHz thats not possible.

And one other think to notiz is that when you overclock sandy to 4,5 GHz you have the speed / performace of a arount 4,4GHz Ivy.

Timings on intel systems ar not that good bandwith ist the key smile.gif

I dont know if thats entirely true mate.

Plenty of people get to 2400mhz on SB-E. I have had 2 chips and both comfortably did it.

The original decision to switch from IB-E to SB-E was from the avrg clock speed (on hwbot) being ~4.5-4.6. Though, i'm sure that will change over time as BIOS mature. I really just wanted to pinch some 2cents.gif for the time being. If in 3-4 months I start to see lots of 4.8+ IB-E i'll probably switch. Also, If I end up being stuck @ 1600mhz mem, i may be forced to switch sooner. I payed a low enough price that I can easily break even, and even possibly make 25-50$ if I exchange it for a brand new one.

I have no plans for Haswell-E, Maybe Broadwell-E... But I will need to buy a phase changer before I make that leap.
