SMH10 pre-purchase build list, and suggestions.

So I'm coming from a Lian Li V2000B I bough almost 10 years ago. This case has been my love...but its about time to upgrade my chassis for the next 10 years. So, I've decided on CaseLabs.

So here's my equipment.:
  • Asus Rampage III Extreme x58
  • Intel i7 970
  • 24GB DDR3
  • 2x GTX 680
  • Corsair AX1200 PSU
  • 4x128GB Crucial M4 drives in 2.5" to 3.5" hotswap bay adapter
  • LSI 9265-8i (Intel's version)
  • SoundBlaster Z
  • 4TB Hard drive
  • 2TB Hard drive
  • BD-RW Drive
  • DVD-RW Drive

Here's my BASIC water cooling parts list:
  • 1x480 Radiator
  • 1x360 Radiator
  • Pump (haven't ordered yet...not sure which kind to use with this build)
  • Tube Res (haven't ordered yet...not sure which kind to use with this build)
  • heatkiller CPU block
  • heatkiller GPU block
  • heatkiller GPU block

MAGNUM SMH10 Parts Config and parts list:
  • Form Factor: HPTX
  • ATX Layout: Reverse (so CPU is on bottom and motherboard door is on the right)
  • MB Door: XL-Window
  • Window Color: Clear
  • Top Cover: Ventilated
  • Lower Chamber Covers: Ventilated
  • PCI Backplate: Hex Mesh
  • Flex-Bay Covers: Solid
  • EXTRAS:
  • MAC-113 Fan Mount (120mm x 25mm) - Flex-Bay
  • MAC-113 Fan Mount (120mm x 25mm) - Flex-Bay
  • MAC-107 Caster Kit
  • MAC-102 HDD Cage Assy - Flex-Bay
  • MAC-210 120.4 Radiator Side Mount - STH10 and SMH10
  • MAC-210 120.4 Radiator Side Mount - STH10 and SMH10
  • MAC-126 Flex-Bay 5.25 Device Mount - Standard Anti-Vibration
  • MAC-126 Flex-Bay 5.25 Device Mount - Standard Anti-Vibration

And here's how the SMH10 front bays will be occupied, by going top-down

1-BD-RW Drive
2-DVD-RW Drive
3-Blank (fan controller or hotswap bay future)
4-Blank (fan controller or hotswap bay future)
5-MAC-102 HDD Cage Assy - Flex-Bay
6-MAC-102 HDD Cage Assy - Flex-Bay
7-MAC-102 HDD Cage Assy - Flex-Bay
8-MAC-113 Fan Mount (120mm x 25mm) - Flex-Bay
9-MAC-113 Fan Mount (120mm x 25mm) - Flex-Bay
10-MAC-113 Fan Mount (120mm x 25mm) - Flex-Bay
11-MAC-113 Fan Mount (120mm x 25mm) - Flex-Bay
12-MAC-113 Fan Mount (120mm x 25mm) - Flex-Bay
13-MAC-113 Fan Mount (120mm x 25mm) - Flex-Bay

And then I'll mount 1x480 radiator and 1x360 radiator in the bottom.

My Questions:

1- What radiator brands work well with the mounting hardware?
2- How do people usually mount a TUBE reservoir in their case...what extra hardware is needed?
3- How do people usually mount their pumps....what extra hardware is needed?
4-Rampage III runs HOT as does the RAID card....I usually had a 120mm side fan blowing right on the motherboard area. Any ideas?
5-any suggestions?

I'll be building this around the end of October, so I want all the parts ready before I transfer the system and build the new water system. Thanks! thumb.gif

Hello!

Thanks for making us your next PC case!! You have got quite a bit of information here, but I will do my best to steer you towards the right direction.

1. As of today there is no 120.x radiator, that we know of, that wont fit on the STH10/SMH10 radiator side mount. The bottom chamber is designed to hold 560s, so there will be plenty of room for any 480.

2. Most people mount the tube res in one of two ways. 1 - mounted directly on the divider 2 - on a accessory mounting plate along with a accessory mounting bar.

3. A pump can be mounted on a bottom mounting plate or even directly to the mid-plate. There really is no specific place to mount one... so get creative with it!! biggrin.gif

4. The Accessory mounting bar with a fan mount is a perfect solution for this.

5. Check out Strens collection of build logs for the SMH10s and STH10s, here. Take a look here too for a better understanding of some of the accessories

I completely didn't see the accessory mounting bars going through the parts of the case! I really don't know how I missed those! That solves most of the problems with the fans, pump(s), reservoir!

Very good. I'm drawing up my plans right now and will be ordering in the next week or two. Awesome work guys, awesome work! thumb.gif
