500w is plenty to power your rig provided it is a quality unit. Post what model you have / full system specs smile.gif

If you don't mind asking, why would you wanna upgrade to a card that can basically run any game out there at 1080p with decent setting at acceptable framerates. It's just my view, but i'd hold my money and upgrade to a good if not great 1080p monitor and then wait for a comparable replacement of 7950 from next gen AMD or from Nvidia (not sure if there is). That 7950 would be a waste if you run it for 720p gaming (also an insult)

Good question. Since the newer games are coming out I was thinking of upgrading before but now that I think of it, might be a better idea to see how my 6870 performs and if need be upgrade... hmm... I might just hold until I play with the mentioned games.

Currently I run my computer through a 720p lcd tv ( I know I know...) I did have another 1080p lcd monitor I used back in school I used exclusively. I should find a 1080p though... thanks for your help though!

If you want do overclock then you sould not keep your Corsair CX

Its cheap for a reason why its not very well made and is using cheap parts

Quick question, currently the hd 6870 is pumping out a 1080p signal and the TV is downscaling it to a 720p. Is the video card fully being utilized since it's sending a 1080p signal? Fully utilized as in being run in 1080p mode. I hope that makes sense.

You should run your games at whatever the native resolution of the display is, in your case 1280x720
Also as shilka recommended you should get yourself a quality unit if you have future plans to OC (in general); check out the recommended list below.
