Is EA Killing Off All Their FPS Games? - Page 2

Well, someone was raving about on the forums on how deserted the game was, and how there was only empty servers. Use the filters, everyone told him.

BF2 and BC2 still have active communities. That goes without saying for BF3, and then BF4 comes out soon plus a new Star Wars Battlefront in the future. So no, they aren't killing them off. They're doing the opposite and over-saturating the market with them, but hopefully this kills off the casual FPS fad more quickly.

Though I agree that some EA shooters needed to be on Steam, I think its not the reason for empty servers on BC2 and Medal Of Honor games.

BC2 was great but its an old game now and most people moved to BF3. You can still find good games on BC2 but its far less and its usually on the weekends.

MOH? That game never was great. It wasnt too bad either but hey, it did not work out.

Also BF3 still have incredible amout of servers but 2 years from now I can see it sharing the same fate as BC2.

BC2 is down unless you want to start a new soldier from what I have gathered... it affects players with capital letters in their names.
Quote:
Guys, I've just spoken to an EA representative over the phone (EA UK phone number: 01483 463000, close at 1700 BST) and they are working hard to resolve the problem. The problem is that as stated above and in previous posts, their disk array has died, and MOST of the data has been recovered. Assuming that they back up at least once in 24 hours, you wont lose an awful lot, if you're an earlier rank, you may have gone down a rank, or if you're in the higher ranks you may find that you've lost your most recent 24 hours work, not all bad, and not completely blown out the water.

It is shocking though how a company as big as EA would do maintainence on their disk arrays, you know, like we do a system hard drive test every few months just to make sure everything is tickety-boo.

But they are working hard to address the situation and it should be up and running very soon *fingers are tightly crossed*
