how to remap keys?

Thread Starter
i have just bought a zalman k500 keyboard. it does not have a backslash key though.
i have tried using serval remapping programs, some dont work and others give me a # instead of the backslash i wanted.
can someone give me a solution to remap my keyboard properly. ideally i would like altgr + / to give me the backslash or failing that just using the menu key next to rightcontrol.

just discovered that the # key is actually backslash but has been made to display # instead
(the keyboard is US layout but badly modified for UK)
