Well if youre feeling really confident then just pull up on the CPU heatsink. Totally up to you but I'd rather put a bit of force on the heatsink than risk driving a dremel through the board. To each his own. Either way I wish you luck.

I;d have to reattach it again. I think I;m going to have to build some sort of reaching tool out of a coat hanger or something

can you get thin nosed pliers into it? sometimes i'll hold the standoff with them while unscrewing. depends where it is though.

This is caused by using the incorrect screw as the threads are not the same. I had the same issue before.
latelesley is correct on this, thats how i got mine off.
