Worth it to buy another HD 69xx?

tl;dr: How does performance scale with a 4.0GHz Phenom II, going from one HD 69xx to two HD 69xxs?

Hey, as you can see below, I've got a Phenom II 965 BE overclocked to 4.0GHz. I'm just wondering if anyone has compared framerate and performance running one HD 6950 vs. two HD 6950s. I've been thrilled with this PC for over 3 years and only recently have I not been able to turn games up all the way.

I have a single 27" 1080p panel so no eyefinity for me. I've been playing Tomb Raider, Hitman Absolution, Bioshock Infinite, Max Payne 3 and a few others recently that gave me <60 fps with the graphics settings all the way up. I'm just wondering if the Phenom II will bottleneck too much to make a difference if I try to slap another 69xx in my system. I'm wanting to play Metro Last Light and Crysis 3, but I think my system falls a little short, especially with Crysis 3. I hate turning down settings.

Anyway, if anyone has had the same or similar CPU and has compared 1 69xx with 2 69xxs, I am interested to know how the framerate/performance changed. Thanks!

the better option is to sell the HD 6950 and go for a single HD 7950. HD 7950(1.1 Ghz) matches HD 7970 Ghz and is faster than HD 6950 CF. HD 7950 is more consistent than HD 6950 CF. smoother gameplay due to better frametimes. CF cannot match single GPU for smoothness and consistency. HD 7950 draws less power and runs cooler. its a no-brainer. a HD 6950 can be sold for USD 100 -120. throw in another 100 bucks and get a HD 7950.

Thanks for the input. I'm not super-peachy on either option so I'm opting to finally get an SSD.
