Decisions decisions 8320 or?

Thread Starter
I'm trying to Upgrade my cpu which is a B65, I currently have it @ 4.0 ghz coupled with an antec 620 push pull
Most folks on here would agree an upgrade to the 8320 as best bang for buck, But the issue is my cooler, it seems it can only allow an OC of 4.6 ghz on the 8 cores. Would it be better then to go with a 6300 since it can OC higher say 4.8+ due to less heat output, or is the 8320 still better? I'm looking to feed my hd 7950 in BF3 Multiplaya and Cry3, the phenom is simply holding me back.

You better buy more cores. If your current cooler can't cope with overclocks you can disable them first before buying new cooler.

Thanks nxenty +rep let me also state I'm not too worried about future proofing cos I have an i7 3820 on ice, but since the x79 mobo is more expensive($220-230) I was thinking to do this upgrade first

Go for the 8320. Just make sure you have a quality mobo if you're going to overclock as some of them can't handle the volts an overclocked 8 core needs.

Buy FX8320 and motherboard that have One core per module option Like Gigabyte boards and get max speeds from the chip with great temps and performance even on low end cooling.
I'm running my FX8320@4.6 max is 4.7 on this board and I'm perfectly happy I only turn on INT cores when Im converting videos or actually need them and 90% of the time I'm running 4c/4t and it's faster by quite a margin compared to my X4 965@4.1. It can push my 660ti@1360x768 to 99% usage on BF3 MP with 64player

Thanks for the rep, you're welcome. I thinking of getting i7 3820 as well but the FX8320 is more than enough for any games I play.
