Should I keep these new SSDs or sell them?

Hi all

Quick background story, I had 2x OCZ vertex 2E ssds, one in my pc the other in my parents. My SSD died after a week, not showing up in bios no power etc. Then my parents pc suddenly died around 6 months later or so. I contacted OCZ and sent the drives off for RMA, I got back 2x refurbished vertex 2e drives. The drives were in a poor state when they arrived, so I complained and OCZ said send em back we'll replace them again. To my suprise they upgraded the drives to 2x OCZ Vertex 3 SSDs.

The Vertex 3s have arrived today...my question is should I keep them and use them again or sell them both and buy something else, like a samsung 840 drive. My concern is I dont want to use these vertex drives again only to have them fail 6 months down the road again and loose all data on the drive.

Anyone know if the 'ssd dying' bug is still present in the vertex 3 drives?

thanks

Sell the vertex 3s. I've had to rma mine twice and the current one is on its way out. I just bought a 120gig Kingston drive to replace it.

Can't go wrong with wanting a Samsung SSD, though Nice of OCZ to upgrade your SSDs.
Though I gotta say if you have the latest firmware sandforce problems are mostly gone. I have a Vertex 2 drive in my HTPC and it works just fine still, and hoping it stays that way. rolleyes.gif

Though half the time you do Google searches or even read reviews most of them will be negative mainly because the people who have problems tend to be the people that makes reviews. If you do keep them just make sure you update the firmware to the newest.

Yeh it was nice of OCZ to upgrade me, but the state of the replacement drives warranted it to be honest. Worst ive seen, I wouldnt be suprised if someone admitted jumping on the drives prior to sending them my way...but thats been and gone.

Im thinking ill just grab a samung, I got an 830 in my pc and its great. I dont really wanna risk losing my parents pc again.
