Thread Starter
Got a quick question and i want some opinions. I am currently running a evga gtx 670 ftw in my system and which I have overclocked and I am using for mainly gaming on one monitor. I was looking to upgrade and get a gtx 780 and was about to buy when a friend told me that early next year they are going to release a new card design that will be better. Is this true? and what do you think will be better, keeping my gtx 670 and waiting or going ahead and buying a gtx 780 now?

The 670 is a very capable card and only a handfull of games will push it under the golden 60 fps (if there is such a thing). Maxwell is being released next year and has been touted for a Q1 release. I am sceptical about this 20nm launch being that close to the 780 launch and would consider Q2 or even Q3 more likely.

If you are feeling left behind, add another 670 for some SLI goodness or if you feel content with how your 670 performs, wait it out for Maxwell. Being Nvidia, I fully expect prices to be expensive but you could pick up a 780/Titan far cheaper when Maxwell is launched.

Just my tuppence worth smile.gif

If the 670 is providing adequate performance for you right now on 1 monitor, I'd just stick with that for now and see what the competition stirs up in October.

780 is a fantastic card though thumb.gif having prices come down some would be good to see tongue.gif
I went with the 780 from a 470 because of the performance increase, which was significant, and the 3 GB of vram, which gives me some future expansion into multi-monitor use down the line.
