That's the problem with some companies... they see IT as another business group. It's not. It should be treated as an essential like electricity or plumbing.

What happens when a massive outbreaks and Microsoft won't update... Plan B: Disconnect from the Internet and turn off all client PCs?

Duckie, the issue lies within the cost structure of the business. The sales, supply chain, product delivery, etc. portions of the business are profit centers. They drive revenue growth. HR, IT, secretarial staffing, etc. are all cost centers that require unproductive spending [from a revenue standpoint]. When looking at budget appropriations, the profit centers take precedence over IT. And, though I'm very pro-IT, it should. When it comes down to it, upgrading from Windows XP to Windows 7 isn't as important as increasing churn, revenue, new clients, new distribution, etc.

It's just how the business world turns.

The problem with Win8 is there are not drivers and bios update to foxcoon detroyer motherboard, and I am not sure if there are BIos update for Windows 7

Why do you need a BIOS update for the OS?

As for drivers, from the foxcon website, all they list are RAID (do you need that?), chipset, LAN and Sound. Windows 8 has the LAN and Sound drivers by default for your setup. Chipset you will need to find, but Nvidia should have it (I could not find it, as their listing for the 780i Nforce was just a display driver. EDIT: looking again, it was a site error, here is the Vista, 7 and 8 driver http://www.nvidia.com/object/nforce-vista-win7-32bit-15.56-driver.html)

Yeah... old school companies still IT that way. What's happening to them? wink.gif

A better approach of viewing IT is it is a force-multiplier for profit centers. With good IT, you can do much much more with the same.... look at Salesforce, Amazon, Walmart, etc.

Anyways, I digress.... say no to XP in 2013! Windows 7 drivers will all basically work with W8. Check the component sites, not Foxconn site for the newest drivers.
Once again...
