New to AMD cards, need advice - Page 2

As has been pointed out with a single 1080 monitor crossfire is a waste. In fact I will go further and say your better off saving about $100 and getting a 7950, you will never notice the gains from a 7970 at 1080.

As I have mentioned before I am looking at getting a higher res monitor (either 1440p or 1600p). So as I don't have it yet, yes the advantage would be minimal and not fully utilized, but when I get the monitor it will be.

That being said I know a lot of people on here have high res "off name" monitors that they love. Are the Yamakasi really that good? How about Crossover? My goal is either somewhere between a 24-30 (30" is gonna cost an arm and a leg >.<), but looking at 27" by both of those brands on new egg and the prices seam reasonable.

Go for GHz editions if you are not planning to water cool. My 7950 Boost Edition performs the same if not better than either of the 2 reg 7970s I have had. My old 7950 Boost gets better FPS.

.

I can tell you I game with zero stutter at 1440 on a 7950. I would still go the 7950 and then crossfire them when you are ready with the new monitor, plenty of power for a 1440 or 1600 monitor.
