BF2142 needs 2 gigs?

Thread Starter
I need to know which would help me the most...? A sound card, or another gig of ram? It takes FOREVER to load for me, and is very jumpy/skips a lot like lag in the very beginning of round beginnings... Is this memory, lag from my 8Mbit connnection, or lack of a peripheral sound card? Thanks all...

When I have Battlefield 2142 open, winamp and a couple of tabs on firefox I'm using about 1.4gbs of RAM. So most defintely I'd say 2gb.

Opening lag is quite common. I use to get it with my AMD 4600+ and my 7950GX2. Probably another gig of RAM would be of more assistance than a sound card, but a sound card makes it... sound better.

Thank you, and as far as a sound card, price is not a thing right now, which would you, as an audiophile, suggest?

Well it depends what you want more. Clearer sound in games (especially when the Titans are blowing up with my Integrated sound I find it distorts quite a lot)or to eliminate the lag in Battlefield 2142 lol your call.

I do notice the distortion, I need both mem and card, so I'll get both from frys today, but I'm unsure what else will help. Thought about getting an 8800gtx today, but I don't think it will help much. My 1900gt is at 740/1708
