LiteOn Cdrom not detected....Help Please

Thread Starter
i hope this is the right forum for this but, I have an Abit kt7 mobo with a 1ghz amd chip. The issues started when i installed 3 256mb SDram chips in.

The DVD burner is detected in the bios and in hardware management, but alas, the burner does not appear in my computer. When checking out the status of the burner it says that there is a code 41 error, which i have no clue as to what that means. I have installed the ram that worked originally and still the same issues, i have flashed the bios and reinstalled the motherboard drivers.

I tried to update the firmware for the burner but upon opening the firmware update file it notified me that it did not detect the dvdburner. The drawer opens and closes and the lights blink on startup, so i know that its getting power and its actively communicating with the motherboard. I also chnaged the ribbon cables around multiple times. In the BIOS I chose optimized defaults, the abit BIOS blows btw, not a very clear BIOS. but ide channels are enabled and the burner is set to boot as a second device with the HDD booting first and floppy 3rd. The floppy drive does boot up and is detected ftw lol.

any input on this would be greatly appreciated
