Best value for you money would be Nexus 7 2013
over Ipad Mini if you are looking for a small tablet. It have a better screen, newer hardware & is cheaper(16GB version: $229 vs $329). The app store for android is the Google Play store, here is the link :https://play.google.com/store
, You can find most of the android apps on there.
If you are looking for a 10" tablet I'd recommend the Ipad 4 over the Nexus 10 unless you really want to watch HD videos(Ipad/Ipad mini are all 4:3 aspect ratio, not good for 16:9 videos). The Ipad 4 have significantly better battery life and a brighter screen, the prices are comparable.
If you are looking for detailed information on Nexus vs Ipad, I recommend this Anandtech review of Nexus 7: http://www.anandtech.com/show/7231/the-nexus-7-2013-review/
it presents a lot of data on Nexus 7, Nexus 10, Ipad 4 & Ipad mini.
AS far as your needs:
I really don't know anything about tablets other than I will be using it for work, (lots of emailing), browsing the web, skype, and potentially a few games while I'm traveling. Would appreciate your input.
The default email app on Android tablets handles Exchange just fine, I use it to sync with my Microsoft Exchange email account I use for my Work emails & calenders. I used my Nexus 7 for weekly teleconference both for business and with my family and the camera/speakers/mics all perform very well in these sessions. The Nexus 7's Web Browsing experience is excellent & Android have a fairly large collection of games
