Its a $850 dollar tv. http://www.amazon.com/Sharp-AQUOS-LC60LE632U-60-inch-LED-LCD/product-reviews/B004OBZM8G
Highest quality you say.......... Maybe from a retailer like Best Buy.

clearly you know nothing about TVs then.
the panasonic ST60 50" can be had starting at 1k....and its picture rivals that of the fabled pioneer kuro from 2008.
very few TVs, of any price range, have been placed into kuro territory....and this one is 1 grand.

Though a friend of mine brought up a good point. I could probably just go out and spend $7500 on a TV and mount it on the wall and in the long run it would be cheaper than buying a projector and replacing bulbs. Though there is just something different about viewing on a projected screen. Maybe it is a just a feeling of being in the movie theater or something. I don't know.
I currently am selling my house and in the process of looking at new ones, I don't even bother looking at a house if the basement isn't big enough for my home theater(projector, 106" screen, 7.2 sound, etc). This last house I looked at was almost perfect, except it had damn skylights in the family room/basement. Was a real debbie downer. I love skylights, don't get me wrong, but not when I'm wanting to view my projector in the same room

You do have it backwards somewhat; a lot of people won't be buying them because they have problems with them, and it's not that they have problems with them because they won't be buying them

Lol please go. I own 4 Panny plasma's. 2 Gt's and 2 Vt's. The St although a great Tv for the price is nowhere near what the Vt's are. Only the Vt goes heads up with a Kuro. Comparing a $1200 St to a $3500 Vt is just retarded.

Wow, someone took his super hyper aggressive "I haven't got GTAV on my PC" pills today. :D

No they're not, lol. The Sharp Aquos 60" is a well rated TV, and in general got positive reviews.

The only brands I'd even consider over a Sharp Aquos are Samsung and Panasonic, I wouldn't touch Sony TV's with a barge pole any more, and LG are a good budget brand but their build quality is a little lacking depending on the model and price you pay.

All in all the Sharp Aquos 60" is more than good enough to play Battlefield 3, and Skyrim modded running on ENB, at a nice native 1080p. Games never looked better. :D

Yeah, maybe if you buy it refurbished or used. $849 was the Amazon refurbished price in the link you offered, not brand new.

The average price for a 60" Sharp Aquos of that model these days is around 1k. I purchased mine in a sale (and with a staff discount) for £900. When released (and they've been around for quite a while now) they were around the 1.4k mark. Their higher tier models cost more.

"I own a Sharp Aquos so I should know."

If you're going to try and undermine people then at least quote them properly, and in context relevant to what they were referencing to, because that is certainly not what I said or implied.

Nice try though.

Second the fact that you can't see the difference means very little.

Yet another user with reading difficulty. How you people manage to notice the difference between pixels when you can't even read a few lines in a post is beyond me. ;)

I stated quite clearly that I could see a difference between upscaled 1080p and native 1080p, just that I felt it was a minor one. It's certainly nothing for anyone to be overly bothered about.

Funnily enough it's only PC gamers who complain about it. :D

Find me a nice 60" IPS monitor at an affordable price and I'll buy one. :D

you compared the ST to the VT, and yes, the ST is placed amongst the ranks of kuro competition, look at the measurements.
calibrators seem to agree that the ST60 falls right beside it.

I don't believe I have it backwards. A ton of members here already stated they won't be buying a next gen console because "PC master" (I always hated that line). Then with every single console news who do you see? The PC elitists bashing as much as they can hoping that someone cares about their biased opinion.

Apparently everybody here expected every next-gen console to be using a Titan and still be $400-500.
Most are probably trying to justify their purchases, of course a $2,000+ system is going to look better than a $399-$499 console, especially at launch.

I'd find it pretty difficult to see a difference at first glance.

This is what I've been trying to tell people. 95% of people buying a console will be using it on their TV sitting ~8 feet away, do people really think they're really going to be looking for details?

Heh, I was fairly sure that I was leaving the PC for console gaming. PC gaming had one benefit to it in my book...modding...and the age of the DLC for purchase has really taken its toll on modding.

However, the more I hear about the new consoles having issues with a 1080p resolution...the more I am second guessing not upgrading the PC again. I'd sacrifice detail to get more resolution any day or at least on the PC. I would never drop down to 1440x900 just so that I could turn on some better shadows or more texture detail. I got to run 1080p with at least 4xAA. If I can't do that with my hardware I upgrade or don't by the game. Detail and eye candy are not that important to me...but want to be using all my screens real estate. If I don't it annoys me.

Am I strange for being like this? Because it seems natural for the devs here to be sacrificing resolution so they can turn up the texture detail...the exact opposite of my mentality.
