Doubts about CPU Cooler height

Hey guys, I'm buying a new case and my last one (Eagle Viper 2) was wide enough to fit my (supposedly) 157mm CPU cooler. I feel like case is freakishly wide. My cooler is a Deep Cool Ice Blade Pro
The official dimensions of my old case is 24 cm, but that's only counted because it sticks out on the sides. The measurement of usable space is 20 cm.
Here are the links to the two cases I'm looking at, does anyone know if they'll be wide enough for my cooler?

the Aerocool case lists "Height limit for CPU coolers ( Without side fan ) 158mm"
http://www.aerocool.us/pgs/pgs-b/x1_black.htm

The Zalman Z9 has no CPU cooler limitation specified in the manual. (http://www.zalman.com/global/product/Product_Read.php?Idx=423)

Some people claim to fit 159mm height in Z9 Plus though.

I'm still pretty skeptical about having a cpu cooler that's 1 cm less than the maximum height, does the motherboard have an influence over the maximum height?
