It depends how high your motherboard FSB can go. My P45 motherboard has a wall around 500 MHz (or it was my cpu maxing out) , but the e5405 only has a 6x multiplier so even with a very high FSB of 450 to 500 MHz it would only reach 2.7 to 3 GHz.... Not worth it... Also E5405 does not support EIST (but even if it did you would anyway need to disable it for such a high FSB OC I think).

In which motherboard are you going to put it and what do you want to use this pc for?

We have 3+ threads on this topic. I guess I will post this here. One hour OCCT stable 4.6Ghz. Loving the Corsair Vengeance ram, 7-7-7-20 @ 1618Mhz, with PL 8, trfc 100 at 1.6V.

I have three boards I could put a 771, and do what? Lol just to do it. One pc is my dedicated HTPC and it currently has a Foxconn P45A and if I got a 5450 running good I'd want one in there, currently have a q6600 in there.

Other two 775 boards are a Asus P5e-V Hdmi and a Gigabyte EP43-D3LR

I'm looking to replace my motherboard with something that supports DDR3. Out of these two motherboards which one is the best and supports the 771 Xenons. If none of these are any good which model would you you recommend me buying?

Depends, what are your needs? I do like the Gigabyte motherboards but if you want maximum overclock (2) is better because it is actually spec'd for 500 MHz FSB, whereas the P43 will only manage 400-415 FSB if I am not mistaken.

I plan on getting a Intel Xenon E5450 or X5460/70 and overclocking it to 4.0Ghz. I'll know this week if my other PC needs motherboard replacement (still waiting for spare cpu to arrive).
