[OFFICIAL] 775 to 771 mod Club! - Page 23

At a snail's pace, I'm beginning to figure this out! The list of microcodes provided in the Support Article did not contain my cpu. Those are codes for Core 2 cpus. Mine is in the Pressler family, same as Pentium D Extreme. So I downloaded the microcode list from Intel and narrowed it down to 2x possible codes. I am assuming it is the 2nd code, as there were 2x families of cpus in this line. The 1st generation had 667mt/s RAM, where as the 2nd gen. had 1066mt/s. I think the 2nd code is correct because my cpu has 1066. If I download the wrong one my cpu will just run handicapped, right? I'll keep working at it, everyone else I see is using Core 2 Xeons. I want to crack this for Dual-Core Xeons, lol... I'll keep ya posted!

I am running a E5440 on a Gigabyte EP43-DS3L using a modded stock bios. I am running Mac OS 10.9.2 Mavericks on this machine. It was running great on the unmodded stock bios but in order for me to get it work the way I wanted it to, on Mac OS, I had to flash the modded bios.

I have been running it overclocked at 3.1GHz for the past 4 weeks. Not much of a boost, but every little bit helps.

Hey Aaron! Happy to make your acquaintance. Now I'm not the nube, lol!

After a few days of coming home from work and tinkering with it, I got the microcodes installed and now my pc boots to Windows. thumb.gif

I am now looking into the BSEL mod to increase bus speed. I ordered a Xeon 5133 (2.2GHz, 4mb L2, 200fsb) to tinker with because the easiest mod seams to be from 200 to 266fsb. Unfortunately, all of the articles are for 775. Can anyone point me to a pin layout for the 771? With the notches being different, do I still just count the number of pads up from lower-right? Any advice would be appreciated!

If I figure out the 200 to 266 mod without trouble, I'll try the 200 to 333 mod next! Even though it looks like quite the challenge!

Hey Psomn! I'm using a $30 fan I bought a year or two ago: Cooler Master Vortex. I installed it with some Cooler Master Thermal Fusion grease and have not had one issue with heat. I have it over-clocked to 3.1GHz and I haven't seen it exceed 39 degrees celsius. Also, I usually have it running Photoshop CS6, Chrome with 15+ tabs, Adobe Bridge CS6, Skype, Outlook 2011 and a bunch of other programs. It runs at around 36 degrees celsius.

Also, you could get a decent Quad Core Xeon with 8MB cache for $20 instead of trying to use another dual core.

Thank you for your reply, Aaron. I had foolishly followed the advice on my new Intel Blue fan, which states NOT to use grease because of the thermal pads already on there. After my OC alarm kept going off, I scraped the stupid heat pads off and used Arctic Silver 5. Now my stock fan is cruising with 17% OCd cpu! Thanks for your advice though. If I have over-heating problems in the future I'll look into that.

I am partitioning my HDD to try out the Hackintoash mod you were talking about. I haven't used an Apple since the one in back of the classroom, lol!

Are you familiar with the BSEL mod?

Hi!
I have to share with you something that I notice on my L5410, 2.33, 12mb. I did one test with overcolcked (2.7, 1.16V) and regular speed. Open three tabs in mozilla and on each page load some 1080p> fhd videos. Now when I start all tree together my core speed in cpuz varies from 2.5 to 1.7 GHz but never get 2.7. Than I tune my xeon on fabric mode (2.33Ghz and 1.14V =auto) and did test again, now speed is constant without any change. Hope that you gona give me some good explain.
I think that with overclocked mode xeon is less stablle and must to put down speed automaticly, but on normal speed hes stabille and ride on full fabric 2.33GHz.
Sorry guys for my bad bad english, I just dont know to write good (conversation is my stronger side).
Have a nice day smile.gif

I was cruzing that site already. They only had the g41 vs3 listed.

But I did see where the g41 chipset is supported in general.

Thanks
