graphic card is gtx 460 and psu corsair cx 600 but i dont think that should be the issue bc few of benchmarks i tryed worked fine and also his last cpu was q8200 oc @4,46ghz with 1.41V
just an example,my x5470 needs 1.43750v in bios on the cpu to run stable @ 3.65GHz my ep35 board(different chipset) seems to suffer some bad voltage droop. Also ck the running voltage on ram,and FSB. may need to bump them a point or 2. or another peep had to set his pcie to 101(instead of default 100) because the card performance was terrible @100. Just some ideas....

pcie is at 102
ll wisit my bro soon than ll inspect furthure, ll also try another bios mod

1.43750v for 3,65ghz? damn thats a lot
mine x5470 is runing atm 1,325v on 4,4ghz on p5q deluxe
post #824 of 917
so i finaly got to my bros pc and it seems the bios was the biggest issue. i flashed the f8 (instead of f11) and the errors went away but it seems overclock wasnt stable also.
was running at 400 fsb (3,8ghz) at 1.25v, 1.22v termination and 1.65v pll but it could not complete intel burn test
now i have set it up on 1,325v core, 1,3v termination and 1.75v pll and its all running fine
ddr2 mem is set to 800 and pcie is at 102

Hi guys

so i have a xeon e5450 running on my p5q SE plus. I overclocked the FSB to 400, for 3.6 GHZ. However, when i bench on CPUz, my scores are lower than the average E5450 at 3.0 GHz by ~300 on multi thread processing, and ~200 on single thread processing.

Am I doing something wrong?
I had an inverse scaling problem with a software overclock. I traced it to a speed, voltage and temperature utility that was running. Make sure all such programs are off. they can use resources the benchmarks need to set up their timings. In my case I had to apply the settings I wanted, then close the program and restart (not reboot). The settings stayed, but the program was closed and my scores improved. I hope this helps. Does it bench normal at 3.0GHz speed? What fsb method are you using? BIOS, pinmod, or software?

I am using BIOS to mod the FSB. There doesn't seem to be anything running in the background. If i lower voltage and increase amount of ram, do you think it might help?
What OS are you running 32, or 64 bit? How much RAM do you have now? You will be limited in both case if you have 32 bit OS. 8GB should be enough with 64 bit for good scores. I don't think lower voltage would make a difference. I'm not an experienced BIOS overclocker so maybe someone else can help. You didn't say if your 3.0 scores were bad also, that would point towards memory or something other than CPU speed issues.

I think i might have just realized what was wrong... haha

I was using CPUZ benchmark utility, but comparing to passmark results.

Just downloaded and install passmark performance tester, my score much different (4932) which is 600 higher than average benchmark at 3.00 ghz. Thanks for helping haha ^^ sorry silly mistake
