Yeah I know that guy.. just confirm that an OEM G31/G41 mobo like lenovo can run the Xeon 5xxx series too but HP G31 is not working. OEM manufacturer they locked some perfomance setting or config in bios make some CPU feature not working with full performance. we can use the SET FSB app to set the clock multipiler to work at full speed guy. and it work with no problem on P5KPL AM/PS on stock speed and OC.

And without sse4.1 and VT-x being enabled on those cpu's , you won't be able to install later Windows OS (8.1,10) They ck for the features if the installed cpu is supposed to have them. If not there,windows fails. If the cpu ISN'T supposed to have them(like on older dual core cpu's) then it'll still install fine. Sooo, a bios mod IS needed for FULL CPU FUNCTION! Also,some won't run the cpu fans properly until the xeon microcode is added to the bios. THAT'S what the mod does by the way,adds the xeon code to the bios.The c2d/c2q have the same codes,but the platform is different. (e.g. 1067a platform 11 for the 775 cpu's vs platform 44 for the 771cpu's.) Your xeon MAY run using the 775 microcode,but it won't have all the features for the 771 cpu and will just create issues.
