Please assist with resetting multiplier - Page 2

If you want to overclock, make sure your FSB : DRAM ratio is 1:1.

You'll want to run that memory at 533MHz and increase your FSB from there. The memory tab of CPU-Z will be able to confirm if you've set that correctly.

Also, keep in mind that DDR memory frequency is essentially doubled per clock cycle, so CPU-Z showing 333MHz is actually 667MHz.

I understand.

I do currently have the FBS/DRAM ratio set to 1:1. In terms of the actual RAM freq., am I doubling the 333 (per CPU-Z) or what my BIOS tells me - or are they basically one in the same?

Also, what would you say is a "safe" temp for an OC? I've dialed it up to 3.24GHz, and I'm currently burning at 41-43C while idle, and 53-55C while on load according to Everest. Ambient temp in the house is approx. 64F.

Thanks again for your guidance.

Yes, you're essentially doubling the 333MHz reading in CPU-Z.

The Conroe can safely handle up to 85C before it starts to throttle, so you are in a good position to keep pushing that FSB!

Woah I would never let my conroe push that high. I dont like it above 55 right now. I would say 65 MAX ever preferably below 60

The CPU is designed to handle up to 85C. Sure, the goal is not to let it get that high, but he's only in the mid 50s under load.

Mine gets hot sometimes, in the mid to high 60s and my stability is not affected at all. I dial it back to keep it under 65C at full load. Keep in mind the "B" Conroe chips run hotter than the "A" chips and also have a higher potential overclock.
