Because the driver removal tool AMD released only supports windows 7. Running it on windows 8 messes up UAC as well as about 50 other things. For instance. You'll never be able to uninstall a program again. Even with the program's own uninstaller you cannot remove a program. Another issue is it restricts the ability to delete folders.. You can delete individual files but groups and folders = no go.
The final issue, which is my favorite. Is that it locks the drive. You have to format and completely reinstall. No repairing, no refreshing. It's a 0 level format and reinstall. I had to use Hiren's boot tools to format the drive. I retested it on 2 reinstalls. Everything runs fine... until you run the AMD driver removal tool. Then these issues reveal themselves. Of course no documentation on the AMD website outside a small sentence that says
Currently supports Windows 7 at this time.
That's it. Nothing about how badly it will screw you up if you use it on Windows 8.
