Merlin SM8 140.3 top rad mount & PCI backplate question

I'm planning on getting an SM8 for my next build and I want to put a 140.3 radiator in the top. I'm want to put DEMCifilter fan filters on all the big openings including the top. So my question is if I get the 140.3 mount for the top, does the opening size for the top cover change to match the 140.3 shape or does it stay the 120.4 size? DEMCifilter sells both sizes, which one should I get to cover the top? Is it the same for the bottom if I decide to mount the rad there?

Also, when I choose the option for the top cover, whats the difference between the Ventilated std and the Ventilated 31 and 120mm? Is this height or opening size?

How much room is there from the ceiling of the case (non drop-in) to where the motherboard tray starts?

I want to get the PCI backplate with the can holes, but I don't like the 3 little 40 mm holes. Is there a block off plate available? Is it possible to get the 120 can cutout but the mesh next to the PCI slots?

Hello,

The DEMCiflex filters, I believe, fit the top cover and are not specific to radiator size. You would need to contact them to be sure.

Extended top covers look like this (M8 shown) left to right - standard, 31mm and 120mm. The measurement is determined by home much clearance is under the top.

Radiator Clearance (Top/Bottom): 114mm. Drop-in or non drop-in this measurement is the same.

The fan hole back plate does come with a cover plate for the 3 40mm openings

Thanks for the reply. I follow up questions.

Is the bottom same as the top? If I put a rad in the bottom (140.3 again) will the same filter work as up top?

Your welcome.

I don't know. You would need to check with DEMCiflex about the dimensions. We don't make the filters, nor did we give them the dimensions. The only thing we have given DEMCiflex was the Flex-Bay fan mounts and radiator mounts, thats it.

the thing I'm asking is what the opening is like on the bottom of the case as I couldn't find any pics from the bottom. Is there another cover plate or anything there? or is it just the 3 140mm diameter cut outs?

Ah okay,

The fan hole openings on the top and bottom have individual covers, like this
