GTX 760 used to lower clock speed automatically but now doesn't

I am having a bit of a problem with my GTX 760. When I first installed EVGA Precision X, the clock and memory speeds would lower themselves quite a bit if I was just mucking about in windows. They would jump back up if I were to do anything taxing on the video card, but recently it looks as if this feature has somehow disabled itself. Could I have hit some button I shouldn't have? Was this really a feature to begin with? Is it a driver issue?

I'm at a loss for why it's not doing it now, but was doing it before. Can anyone give me some clues as to why it's acting up?

Well it looks as if I found my own answer. I had Precision 4.2.1 installed and it would keep my clock speeds always high. I uninstalled 4.2.1 and went back to 3.0.4 and all is fine now. The clocks lower themselves when in windows and nothing's going on. Thank god for that. I don't want my card clocked so high when I'm just mucking about in windows.

Glad you figured it out. I have found that some other programs cause the GPU to run at full clock speed even though nothing is happening. Razer Synapse 2.0 for instance would make my GPU run at full speed unless I actually shut the program down.

In precision settings there is a feature for profiles to have profile 1 to auto enable for 2d mode and profile 2 to auto enable for 3d mode. You may have had that option ticked and had your OC settings in 1.
