Just have to regenerate those dying cells?
The sun will die one day... The universe will expand so much, the matter will be scattered, there won't be any star and the energy will disperse. One day the universe might start to retract... until it collapses and maybe create a new big-bang.
Immortality is an utopia, nothing is eternal. I think it's a long cycle. A cycle has no beginning nor end - that's the only way I can explain the existence of our universe. Why does it exist? Why are we conscious?
We know when a cycle ends. Our cycle is our life, we know when it started but we don't know when it will end... yet. The time is simply the occurrence of a cycle. We can measure the amount of a specific cycle between another cycle (the time it takes for your watch to make a tick can be compared with the time you take to go to school). If your watch marked 3600 seconds (ticks) between the time you left your home and the time you arrived, you know it took you 3600 seconds to get there.
The thing is that at different places of the universe, the time a cycle takes to occur varies... the time is not universal, we created it. If you are in a black hole, there is no time - like everything freeze. If you go at the speed of light, there is also no time progression.
What is the occurrence of our life? One time? Infinite amount of times?
I am just trying to say the question of death and its fear shows us how little we know about the universe. We are one
thing, and you were since the beginning of the universe. Your genetic code was already one of the many combination possible. We are conscious as human of a particular cycle (our life) but we might not be searching the immortality at the right place. What if we were already immortal? What if we live again? That 10^800034535 billions of years pass between the last time you died and your "new" life? We are looking at "something" after but after there might be no time... no consciousness of the time passing so it wouldn't matter how long we "stay" dead. When you sleep, time seems to pass extremely fast because we are not conscious.
Time doesn't exist... we created it.
What if the universe ever existed, it's crazy and hard to conceive something never had any beginning because we always want to know what was before... It's crazy!Edited by Just a nickname - 9/19/13 at 10:12am
