I sold off my Nexus 7 - Jelly Bean didn't impress me much. So when it comes to Android, they will not only need to impress me with software but *also* hardware.
Optics and screen size:
Android optics has always been behind, except on the SGS4. Problem is I'm looking more for the form factor of a Nexus 4 - no bigger. So I'm looking for a device that may not currently exist; and if rumors are true, the Nexus 5 is going to be significantly larger. I can wait a couple months to give Google a shot here though. iOS7 runs fairly well on my 4s, so I'm in no rush.
Hearing that the 5s still stuck with 1GB of RAM seems really short-sighted though. At least increase it to 2GB :/
I look at it like the difference between being trendy and a hipster. The point of each describes their respective counterparts well. Even when android was in infancy, it has always been the "trendy" thing because it was both not apple and something new. Now that its the majority, its still trendy because everyone has it. Android was marketed this way from the onset, look at the original droid marketing for instance.
Apple on the other had has always been about "Exclusivity"; about what the other can do and how they do better and faster, just as hipster is someone with a perceived self elevation of knowledge, ability and exclusiveness. Take Steve Jobs for example, his whole aura was about being cooler, smarter and outwitting hes competitors. Their ads have always geared toward this as well.
Im not bashing either one, i really couldn't care less, but each group has its roots much deeper then the consumers who use them. After all, each marketing group chose an audience to aim towards and that is reflected in their product offerings. Its like Costco vs everyone else, except costco really is the shiz nitz.
