Build for my friend... will 2gb 770 be enough for BF4 60 fps ultra?

He's on a budget of about $1200-1300 max. He doesn't have a mouse or keyboard or anything so all of those things need to be factored into the price.

For BF4, will a 2gb 770 be good enough for ultra? According to benchmarks it gets like 80+ fps in bf3... so I have a feeling it should be fine with his 1080p 60hz monitor.

The 770 will be used with 8gb ram and i5 4670k (maybe oc in future but not right now coz we can't add a good cooler to it)

also is a 750W PSU enough for a 770? what about for 780?

For this, a good 450W PSU is all that would ever be needed. Depending on where you can order from, a few examples off the top of my head are the 450W XFX Pro Series Core Edition, the 450W Rosewill CAPSTONE (and also the 450-M, modular version), and the 450W SeaSonic G Series.

I believe that this is all I am able to contribute. :/

Should pull about 50-60FPS in BF4. Should...
But they are using a new engine with huge destructible buildings and environments. I am personally going to be selecting to upgrade to dual 7950/70's just to be on the safe side. thumb.gif

Also for a single 770 or 780 a 500W psu will be plenty. thumb.gif

No doubt about it.. It can run BF3 ultra on 1080 80+ and I doubt BF4 will be a huge improvement over BF3 graphics
post #5 of 9
A GTX 770 should be able to handle BF4 at 60fps on ultra settings. As others have suggested, a 750W PSU is overkill unless you want to SLI later.

i'm giving him my 750w because i'm going with a SLI 780 watercooled set up, and I am going to buy a 1000w modular PSU because i hate the medusa head that is my current non modular tx 750

You wont need 1000W. Maybe 800W at the most. thumb.gif

Are you going to be overclocking those 780s? I know that this can be a dumb question due to the fact that you said you'll have them under water cooling, but not everyone overclocks their video cards. The reason I asked is you could easily power that with the 780s at stock with a good 650W PSU.

Comparing BF3 alpha and released game benchmarks, it looks like a 15 FPS gain was made from the alpha using a GTX 285. BF4 alpha benchmarks say the 770 does 32 minimum and 43 average...soooo it'll be close to a 60 fps average if we use BF3 as an example.

I'd get a 4GB card though since alpha is using over 2GB with a GTX 780 at 1080 with 4X MSAA.
