Hard drive lost partition, need help - Page 2

Thread Starter
My computer decided it was a good time to throw a BSoD 0xF4 and when I restarted, the BIOS reported SMART failure, and refused to let me do anything unless I pressed F1 to continue. Time to start shopping for a new one. Since it seems I don't have enough rep to post a wanted ad on this forum, can anyone suggest a good place to buy a new laptop hard drive? Something in 500GB range, 2.5" 9.5mm max SATA 3G. Amazon (via 3rd party vendor) has WD Blue for $52+shipping and Newegg has Samsung for $55+shipping. I'd like to avoid eBay, been burned by too many "tested working" drives that looks like it was a chew toy. (seriously, some seller are so big an idiot they think a plain mantilla envelope and no padding is OK???)

BTW I found a bug with EVGA SR-2 mobo: if there's a stop at BIOS due to error and asks for F1 to continue or etc, it will not recognize USB keyboard anymore. Since the USB keyboard wouldn't have been initialized at that time, only PS/2 keyboard would work biggrin.gif Time to bug EVGA about that.

Well, at least you know what the issue is now. ^_^

I got a few parts from Directron and Provantage when building my system. You might want to check them out, especially since Amazon charges tax now.
