Need a good mITX / Intel CPU combo. - Page 2

For gaming (depending on which game of course), you aren't going to see much improvement with the A10-5800K over your Phenom 955. That's why it's cheaper.

If you are concerned about price, no reason to buy a Z87 board - especially if you aren't overclocking then get H87 or H77 board instead.

Earlier in the thread Gameworm linked you a decent Haswell H87 motherboard which is a similar price to that FM2 board, see on Tweakers http://tweakers.net/pricewatch/336158/gigabyte-ga-h87n-wifi.html. You can pair the Haswell board with the i5-4670K you linked before, but then you are again paying a premium for overclocking which you won't use, so drop down to i5-4570 (link) to save some euros. Under normal use you won't notice that you didn't buy a -K chip.

Or you can go with Ivy Bridge H77 board http://tweakers.net/pricewatch/318167/gigabyte-ga-h77n-wifi.html and an i5-3470 (link). Again you won't notice performance difference with a -K chip, but price is more reasonable.

Either way, those will be a great step up compared to your current CPU smile.gif

- MOBO: So for AMD m-ITX the best option is the FM2 socket?
For example: http://tweakers.net/pricewatch/341149/gigabyte-ga-f2a85xn-wifi.html

- CPU: Just a quick search for a FM2 cpu: http://tweakers.net/pricewatch/304843/amd-a10-5800k-black-edition.html
Is this a decent CPU series? I won't use the onboard graphics, but is it still a good APU for use as an CPU?

This setup is much cheaper than the Intel.

Greetings,

I can't recommend any of the APUs for gaming. Even a Sandy i3 will run circles around it in mostly everything.
