Question About the Turtle Beach DSS and AD700 Headphones (sorry if this in the wrong section..)

Wanted to post this in a general audio section but cant find one! Anyway I am currently using a pair of Audio Technica AD700 headphones. I use a Xonar DX for pc gaming (which is amazing) and a Triton 720 mixamp for console gaming (which is sub par)...

I just saw on Turtle Beach.com they are having a flash sale of the Ear Force DSS for 27$...was wondering if anyone has any input on whether this would be an upgrade from the tritton and worth it or not..

thanks!

Pros:

+ Cheapest DH device for console use

+ Preset EQs

+ Can take two inputs (3.5mm in, optical in)

Cons:

- Wired

- No integrated mic input. This means only Turtle beach headsets have chat capabilities. This can be resolved through the use of a direct mic input to the controller of a Xbox 360 and on the newer DSS 2 through the use of a usb soundcard dongle with 3.5mm out and 3.5mm in for PS3

- Louder background noise than the AX720 decoder, which scales with volume (unconfirmed)

- New version, the DSS2 does not use Dolby Headphone, and only simulates 4 speakers. It is unknown (so far) how it compares to Dolby Headphone.

- Does not decode DTS natively.

Biggest keyword there is unconfirmed.

I have not had experience with the tritton however, I love my little Earforce DSS. even though I no longer use it all that often. You can get them cheaper on eBay though. I picked mine up for 5 bucks indlucing shipping. thumb.gif I had bought one earlier but sold it to a friend. Got that one for 9 bucks including shipping. thumb.gif
